Chairman's Castle
|
|
Location: Indoors/Outdoors - Duration: 1 to 2 hours - Participation: For groups of between 10 and 200 people
A very entertaining and educational training exercise in project-planning, negotiation, pitching, presentation skills, teamwork and ‘thinking outside the box’.
The Chairman of Trans-International Telecom has unfortunately passed away. Just before he died he made a major purchase of a stately pile, a semi-ruined castle, just outside Leicester. |

He ‘played his cards close to his chest’ regarding his intention for this land however the teams, as his successors, must decide from the contents of his briefcase what his intentions may have been and the best way in which this land can be employed.
The Chairman was known to be a keen supporter of the Millennium Dome and it is known he had non-executive roles with the Threesauds Group, English Cultural Estates, The Wilton Hotel Chain and a series of lap-dancing clubs in London to name but a few – teams can draw their own conclusions! |

There are no further funds available within the company for actual development of the site therefore it is up to each team to develop a business plan to take to potential sponsors to raise the necessary funds to metamorphisise the Estate into a viable business.
This fully-facilitated programme involves teams discussing possible uses for the land, taking into account several factors including Environmental issues, Business uses, Marketing possibilities, Chairman’s intentions, Location and accessibility and Potential investors. |

Having haggled for Market Research Reports as required, each team must then continue to develop a business plan which will be pitched to potential investors, with a panel issuing funds on the strength of presentations.
With investment secured, it is then down to each team to demonstrate how their plans will be ‘actualised’ with each team voting for others in a ‘secret ballot’, based on the feasibility and commercial strength, power of argument/presentation/pitch, best PR and Marketing and best teamwork broken down into small teams. |
